Square Enix has lost the plot when it comes to game prices

The game hasn't been announced for PC until two days ago. If you wanted to play it so bad that you're willing to spend $70 on a subpar store, then why would you have waited to play it on a platform that there has never been any guarantee it would even come to?

I don't own a Ps4. There is a huge difference between buying an entire console to play one game and buying one game when it comes out for a platform I already own.

There was no guarantee that it was coming to PC, that is true. I wasn't so much waiting for it as I was occasionally checking the gaming news to see if and when it may happen. Now we have our answer .

And if you were happy to wait until it came to your preferred platform, why wouldn't you just keep waiting until it's a reasonable price?

I mean I wouldn't say I was happy. I was working full time during a pandemic while everyone else stayed at home and played it on their PS4. Actually, to be honest, I was kinda fucking miserable in April of 2020.

I haven't bought a full priced AAA game in years. I am subbed on the patient gamer sub and often am very frugal with my money.

I haven't even told you that I'm buying it for $70, though I might if I feel like it. I've switched to night shift and now have more time on my days off to play video games because I'm awake at 4am... last year I wouldn't have had large pieces of time to kill.

I agree that $70 seems a bit pricey for the game. Though I'm willing to wager a lot of people flipping the fuck out in this thread have been $60 for games and if you account for inflated prices across the globe right now $70 kinda makes sense. (Yes I also hate corporate greed and know it's being distributed digitally etc.) I bet a lot of those people buy goods at inflated prices like sneakers or alcohol or paying rent in a city that they realistically should move out of. I don't call them "stupid" for doing that. It's their life and their financially independent call to do so.

If it's my personal financial call to spend $70 on the game it doesn't make me "stupid". Also, I still have no idea how the argument that I surely have enough excess cash laying around to have played it last year (which literally would've cost me more money) on a platform that I didn't want to buy makes any sense.

Either way, just giving a little perspective.

I agree the game is pricey. I agree that it sucks for people who can't afford it. But calling me stupid is fucking ridiculous... im not writing a check for $50k to a Nigerian prince who claims to make final fantasy games.
