The conversation that got /u/NewNameNoah banned took place here on July 18, 2013 with /u/FannyAlgersAbortion. Almost the entire thing has been deleted, but /u/NewNameNoah's side of the conversation is still accessible via his overview. /u/FannyAlgersAbortion's may be accessible through his overview, but he has said too many comments for me to go back that far.
Here's all of the comments /u/NewNameNoah said in that thread. Many include conversations that don't involve /u/FannyAlgersAbortion. I'm putting it in the comments to keep the post fairly condensed.
All-in-all, here's what happened:
FannyAlgersAbortion told NewNameNoah that his videos do more harm than good. NewNameNoah disagreed. FannyAlgersAbortion said he knew NewNameNoah quite well. NewNameNoah said that FannyAlgersAbortion doesn't know him and was confusing him for Rob Sivulka. FannyAlgersAbortion released NewNameNoah's real name, phone number, and address. He also said that NewNameNoah was sexually harrassing people both online and in person and was mentally unstable. NewNameNoah wasn't upset about the phone number, was pissed about the address, and was furious about the sexually harrassment accusations. NewNameNoah threatened to sue FannyAlgersAbortion for slander. FannyAlgersAbortion kept saying slanderous things. NewNameNoah decided to look at FannyAlgersAbortion's reddit history and he easily found that he was bipolar, unemployed, and divorced.
FannyAlgersAbortion then claimed in an /r/AskReddit thread that NewNameNoah found his facebook, social security number, ran a credit check on him, and called his ex-wife. However I could find no proof he did any of this. That doesn't mean it didn't happen, but I'd like proof it did.
In the main thread that this happened, a moderator, /u/TOUGH_LOVE_GAL, told both of them to knock it off or they'd be banned. Both continued with their tantrums, but only /u/NewNameNoah was banned and /u/FannyAlgersAbortion continues to regularly post on /r/Exmormon.
/u/NewNameNoah was banned from /r/exmormon. However, many people thought he was still a force of good for the Exmormon community. People like /u/fa1thless, who is a current mod. He said
First off, overall NNN I still think was net positive for the community, yeah he was a complete dick to a couple of users here (got banned from reddit for it) but the simple fact is the man brought down the iron curtain of the temple, and I share his videos frequently with others.
/u/NewNameNoah was told he could start a new account but could not tell people he was also /u/NewNameNoah.
I contacted /u/NewNameNoah asking him to tell his story and he said /u/justanothercult's comment here had his stamp of approval.
Overall, I agree with what /u/fa1thless said. He was a dick, but what he has done shines brighter than his dickishness. Considering how /u/FannyAlgersAbortion wasn't banned when he did the same things, I feel /u/NewNameNoah was treated unfairly and should be unbanned and put on probation. The mods should make sure he is fully aware that if he doxxes someone again, he will be re-banned.
