It's the Sunday "how come you're not at church?" thread...

We’re not church people. Weddings, funerals and christenings only. I’m agnostic now but my parents christened me in the Uniting Church which I’m pretty sure is the mid 80s equivalent of “we’re sure this is all horse shit but societal pressure means we’ve got to do this. Let’s make it as laid back as possible”. My brother was never christened so either by the late 80s it became less of a thing or they realised on the very unlikely chance it matters, he was beyond saving. Having said that I take almost as much issue with Protestants, their work ethic and bullshit prosperity gospel as I do with Catholics and their child abuse and complicity in spreading AIDs in Africa. Anyway.

I probably wouldn’t normally talk about religion on Reddit but we’re in extraordinary times. Nothing else really comes to mind. I just exist on a day to day basis like I’ve always done. I’ve lost the ability to do some things I would like to do but I haven’t really added much to my normal routine.

My favourite and also my least favourite thing this week is the cover of Get Down Moses that The Interrupters did for the Joe Strummer tribute. I think the song is Joe’s best non-Clash work and the cover is enjoyable. I just think libertarian lunatic Infowars appearin’, Ron Paul supportin’ Aimee is a bit of a fraud and the band is pretty much fabricated to profit on the SUSTAINED AND MASSIVE POPULARITY OF SKA. Which would be fine normally. If their personal politics weren’t the antithesis of ska.
