Superlux HD-681 EVO that I have only had since May 6th stopped working

Sort of, yes.

You'd take a suitable 3.5mm cable with at least one male jack on either end, cut that off at a reasonable length (similar to the original wire), plus some extra centimeter or two, so when you strip the outer layer of insulation to get to the individual wires you'll have some extra room to work with.

(If you don't have a wire stripper at hand, gently and carefully undoing the shielding of the wires in a circular motion all the way around, using individual cuts, then pulling on the bit of shielding you want to remove, should do it. Just don't apply too much pressure when doing this, as you might end up cutting the wire, instead of stripping it.)

A longer cable is also an option here.

or

You could get a female stereo jack, also 3.5mm, off eBay, Amazon and the like and glue / solder that into place where the cable used to be.

The latter would allow for the use of any stereo 3.5mm male to male cable you like.

As always, take your time and don't rush things when something like this.
