Need some advice -

About a decade ago the water main outside our house burst and ruptured part of our driveway, out across the footpath at 1 in the morning. I think it was Sydney Water who came to fix up the pipe, and then quickly patched it up with tarmac and doing the world's worst job at smoothing the tarmac and giving us a smooth driveway entrance/footpath bit. They promised to come back in the daytime to dig it back up and lay fresh concrete to restore the driveway and the footpath.

They never came and my parents did nothing. A decade later my brother and I continue to scrape our cars entering and exiting the driveway and it looks like a bomb site. Parents taking their kids to school complain endlessly about the rough bit of footpath (boo fucking hoo) and whinge about us not repairing it.

Anyway I don't even know who to contact now, Sydney Water have no records of such an agreement or rather, too lazy to dig up an incident report and the council guys this morning doing remedial work on our street were hesitant to give any advice. I want to figure out if we're responsible for paying for a new driveway entrance, given it's outside our border I feel like it is council responsibility - but then I could be totally wrong and the driveway up to kerbside could be our responsibility.

Thoughts?
