I do however I am also a renounced US citizen. It didn’t make sense to be a dual citizen never living in the US. Now my company has me here with a green card and I am happy to be in the US and like Americans but I was American because I had a US parent and always lived in Canada. The administrative burden and tax complexity caused me to renounce. I am happy with the decision and always viewed myself as Canadian.

So yes you are correct if I was a Canadian here on a green card I could get a gun. But as a renounced US citizen I am not allowed to own a firearm. I assume it was done because my scenario is super rare and the typical person that renounces is disaffected with the US (Lee Harvey Oswald). I love the US but never felt like or wanted to be an American. I still don’t want to be but like living here and making friends while my job is here.
