Thoughts on AMD 2600x?

Yeah the cost saving is tempting. Especially as I'm happy with my current I5-7500.

I'm thinking I could make it the core of an ultra cheap build.

I'm essentially upgrading because I'm giving my old build to a family member who's PC went kaput recently, and I learned a few things from that very first build.

It's:

I5-7500 RX480 8GB MSI250 Gaming MB 16GB Ram 500 Samsung SSD 1TB HDD

Experienced no issues except I digitized my DVD collection so need a new build with 8TB of HDD space and upgrading to a 1TB SSD as prices are down from my first build.

I'll probably head over to BuildAPC reddit at some point, but I know you gotta put in work first.

The AMD2600X really jumped out at me, but I do understand people's ideas that a 3600x is the better longterm option.

Not sure myself but learning towards 3600x.

I need a full build though, including trying my first mechanical keyboard, monitor etc, so a real budget build might be a better direction, as I'll be upgrading in the future, whereas my old one I'm giving away so nothing is carried over.
