What do you mean your BFF is a "screener"?

There are only a couple thousand people who actually get screeners:

  • Actors/Actresses that are in the Screen Actors Guild (SAG)

  • Directors that are in the Directors Guild of America (DGA)

  • Writers that are in the Writers Guild of America East/West (WGAE) (WGAW)

  • Producers that are in the Producers Guild of America (PGA)

  • Movie Reviewers who are authorized (Think Roger Ebert, etc)

Thats the majority of people who get screeners, there are exceptions. Such as the POTUS gets screeners and pretty much any billionaire.

So unless your BFF is one of the above, he is not a screener.

But I think you are just getting your definitions confused.

A screener isnt really a person, its the actual movie on DVD/VHS, given out while the movie is still in theathers or not yet out on DVD/VHS.

A person who gets them legit, doesnt really habe a name.

A person who gets the non-legit, is a pirate.

As I touched on before, screeners are "acquired" by various groups. These groups often have names like Centhropy, Hive-CM8. They "release" the movies on the internet, but only to TOPSITES. Topsites are sites that VERY FEW people have access too. In fact even the names of Topsites are secret. When released, eventually someone on a topsite will upload the movie to a private torrent site. Once there, someone there will upload it to a public torrent site.

From there, anyone can download it. This whole process from the scene group releasing it onto a topsite, to it ending up on average computer guys computer, is just a matter of hours.

Im not trying to be a dick or rude, I just wanted to make sure you knew the correct terms. Or maybe Im just wrong and your friend actually does get screeners.
