TIL Canada's racism problem? It's even worse than America's.

Canadian here. Here is my personal experience. I've met many people of all kinds of cultures in Canada. My resounding impression of the majority of natives is that they rebel against their own self-improvement and inclusion within society. Notice I said most. I don't often say most of anything. It's as though they raise and encourage their own to continue their rebellion out of spite. My parents were immigrants, but because I am white I've been treated by most natives that I've met as the evil doer that ruined their great land. But they love their blue jeans and cigarettes and booze and rock & roll and weed Nike shoes and television and internet. So my overall impression is they often end up culturally stunted and may need a few generations to catch up. There's a few that seemed to acknowledge this embarrassing trend, but there is little they could do to remedy it. People grind their heels in when it comes to strong beliefs, whether real or not. Whatever, live and let live. You can see similar patterns within any cultural group that lives in Canada. Some hold fast to older values and beliefs and try to get others of their lineage to do so as well. In time, people meld together. Can't just look at the short term and expect sudden change. Also, Canada is a cultural mosaic rather than a melting pot, like the US. So we allow people their right to be obstinate to local culture. Anyway, in any group of people that heavily encourages an ongoing open rebellious nature, it's bound to shape young minds in that direction for lifelong attitudes. Repeat ad nauseam. The individuals that break free of those social constraints will have a better opportunity to develop broader perceptions and thus unveil starkly different paths in life. Anyway, the article seems like it's intent is to stir up controversy. Negative opinions are only worth their face value, IMO.
