TIL Fresno is more expensive than Chicago

Rent in Sacramento is outpacing Paris. And yeah it’s really not Paris lol.

There’s a weird vibe growing up in those parts of California where you just think it’s the whole world, and leaving California is unthinkable.

So a lot of people there just accept anything as normal. Same thing with the insane amount of homelessness or crime.

Like this last year, there’s been multiple unprecedented shootings near my old job, in a neighborhood analogous to Lakeview/boystown. There’s random explosions at night, like they literally keep catching people playing around with pipe bombs.

With all that, my friends and family still think Chicago is dangerous and worry about me.
