TIL Mao Zedong, in a power-play against Nikita Khrushchev's visit in 1958, forced him to conduct a meeting in a pool. 200+ pound Khrushchev, who could not swim, was forced to wear floaters in the kiddie side of the pool while Mao swam laps and conducted the meeting.

The US has caused millions of deaths, but somehow I bet you're not nearly as critical of it as you are communism.

Here's how I know you don't know the first damn thing about my political views. The next time you have a wager in mind, I suggest you do your wallet a favor and think twice. Don't embarrass yourself.

Nobody denies that people died in socialist countries

If you ignore the "but that wasn't TRUE socialism" crowd that crops up anytime someone suggests that maybe - just maybe - the USSR was inspired by socialist ideology, sure. "Nobody".

My issue isn't so much the denial, but the sad excuse-making and the constant, ever-present, "b-b-but people die in capitalist countries too" crap I hear out of apologists for the far left.

You guys don't even know how fucking easy you've gotten off compared to the far right in terms of public image, do you? What's that line, "When all you've ever known is privilege, anything less feels like oppression"? It's not 1952 anymore so spare me the complaining about criticism.

Hitler kills maybe 10 million people and he's the height of evil. But you can think Stalin and Mao weren't that bad despite killing millions more and be a fucking college professor. I'm sorry that a book offends you, perhaps in your socialist utopia you can ban it.
