TIL that the Nation of Islam teaches that white people are a race of "Devils" created by a black scientist 6,600 years ago on a Greek island.

What does that mean to "believe in Christ"? Merely believing he existed certainly does not suffice. It is the belief that the words which he is credited with are true, and that to be a Christian, one must live their lives following that truth. So, allow me to introduce you to a scripture I'm willing to wager you're completely ignorant of Matthew 5:17-20 "17 Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven."

In Jewish tradition (Jesus was a Jew), the "law" is constituted by the first five books of the Bible, also commonly known as the Pentateuch. These are the scriptures that threaten eternal damnation for the transgressions of eating shrimp, wearing mixed fiber clothing, cutting the sides of your beard, etc. Now what Jesus says here is that "not one jot or tittle will pas away", meaning EVERYTHING said in the OT is wholly endorsed by Jesus Christ, son of God. Everything. There's no quibbling here. Either you are a Christian, and you believe that what Jesus said is truth. But if you don't believe what Jesus said is truth, then you're not really a Christian. I went to church twice a week, every week, for 24 years before I decided to leave the faith, about 7 years ago. I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on the subject.
