TIL that Zen's golden orbs will mirror the spawn location of the attacking team, even when on defense.

Is it revolutionary? We've seen Ray traced graphics since like toy story 1, and I'm pretty sure the technique has been known about for like decades before, I think it was thought of about the same time as our current main strategy rasterizing.

It can make some stunningly realistic renders, but it's kinda a brute force technique. I learned and implemented basic versions of both strats before, and honestly I think rasterizing is so fucking clever and robust in how it can efficiently draw many of the beautiful 3d (and 2d) games and animations we know and love. Ray tracing has kinda always been more of a flex of how fast our processors are than of innovating crazy new rendering strategies.
