Too much medication legitimisation in this group

i can sort of see what point you’re trying to make here? like, yes. humans have “very similar” bodies (an extremely vague statement) insofar as we all have brains and hearts and bones and things like that. on a macro-biological level we’re very similar because we’re of the same species, but to assert that not one single human needs and/or benefits from stimulants to treat ADHD in the long term is such a weird take. i don’t know how can you confidently assess what should be done about the chemical deficiencies and mental health of millions of people all at once.

also, many people with ADHD - myself included - have had lifelong struggles with impulsivity that result in unhealthy addictions like alcoholism to compensate for the constant buzz of disorganized thoughts and their lack of dopamine. i can only speak on my own behalf, but i’d much rather take a stimulant than be wasting my life away as an alcoholic. alcoholism runs in my family, and since starting my medication my desire to drink has been reduced drastically. you don’t have to take the medication if you don’t want to, but to assert that NO ONE should is so weird to me.
