Toronto expects 50 photo radar cameras by December

I always go back and forth on this. It's useful but I feel people will just counter it.

A zone on Avenue Rd. saw a weekly average of 60,100 motorists going more than 10 km/h over the 40 km/h limit,

Avenue is a good example. It's basically a highway in the morning. A wide open stretch of road that's 40 for many kms and everyone going 50+ (it was only changed last year).

But the reflex is that people will look for alternatives.

My case study is that pocket around Oriole Parkway. So they lowered Ave's speed and put in X'ing lights for the Beltline but then people drove up Oriole. Now that there's a stop sign (about 2 years old) at Tramner people are also rerouting there.

Now I'd say Highbourne, Lacsalles and Colin are all quite busy alternatives.

With traffic cams people will reroute around it onto the side streets where they won't be monitored. Stop signs? Laughs in Toronto driver
