"Traditional" Christian marriage sounds like absolute hell.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. I am in the same boat. Almost 24, planning on getting married, etc. my dad feels the absolute need to have a religious “talk” with my boyfriend and make sure he’s right for me. I just want to do a simple courthouse wedding within the next few months, not asking for any sort of money or anything. Living with him is out of the question. Not a huge hurdle, as he lives 75 miles away from me right now.

I asked my dad: “do you think I will change my mind if you don’t like the answers you hear from him during your discussion?” He says no, probably not. I do not know what to do, and I would like for him to not have the opportunity to force his religious and extremist political views on yet another person. Frankly, it’s depressing because I am attempting to “do the right thing” and they’re still making my life hell. No matter what you do, it’s never good enough if you set any sort of boundaries.
