Do you treat your SKs the same as your own kids?

I'm still pregnant so my BK isn't here yet, but honestly I probably won't. First of all, I don't have the freedom to do everything for my SK that I would want to do for my BK because the final say for my SK comes from DH or his BM. Second, even my parents didn't treat me and my brother the same and we were a nuclear family. You can't treat kids exactly the same because they have different personalities and different needs. My brother needed to be treated with kids gloves more than I did and I was able to be given more independence and trust. It is what it is but good parenting isn't treating kids exactly the same, it's treating them how they need to be treated if that makes sense.
