current titan countermeasures limit the effectiveness of more conventional tracking methods in the larger & slower titan-to-armour missiles.
as such specialised rounds are used to manually apply tracking compounds to enemy armour & provide additional firepower, allowing for a higher missile hit rate than would otherwise be possible, significant flaws of this method include the need to manually apply tracking compound, the need to reapply tracking compound after each salvo & the requirement of multiple successful compound applications to ensure an effective lock.

salvo's are limited to bursts of three missiles per successful lock-on to improve ammo conservation while still sustaining significant damage output to enemy armour, this also limits potential collateral damage from stray missiles. these measures can be overridden in emergency situations.
