There's probably a reason for that. Hawaii has a huge problem with drugs, homelessness, gentrification, wishful mainlanders, etc..

You're thinking about bright futures at a new home like you're moving to Dayton, Tampa, Dallas, Seattle, Salt Lake City, etc.. Hawai'i is a totally different ballgame

Hawaiians have been here for generations building communities just to keep a roof over their heads & often have many generations living under one. They see the same bright eyed wishful mainlanders all the time, and few manage to pull it off - often contributing to the many social issues, all while they're saying 'I told u so, brah"
