Mein Kampf was published. The worship of the Aryan race was quite obvious. The racial bigotry of the Sturmabteilung, the most visible and numerous group of NSDAP, was also obvious. Hitler assured the wealthy or politically-connected potential supporters that he merely wished to reduce Jews in academia, banking and medicine to numbers "proportional to their numbers in the Reich." In other words, he downplayed his completely racist agenda to make himself more palatable to certain social elites.
To the masses, Hitler was inescapably racist long before 1933. Here is his 1928 Zweites Buch:
The Folkish State, conversely, must under no conditions annex Poles with the intention of wanting to make Germans out of them some day. Point two: if Hitler's worst crime had been outlawing Jewish immigration into Germany, no one would know Hitler's name. His murder is his infamy, not his racism, he has nothing else. If not for slaughter, Adolf Hitler would be an obscure footnote alongside Kerensky, Philipp Scheidemann and Gustav Bauer in popular histories.
