Tryout Advice

As someone that played travel ball and was a SS in HS in The highly competitive environment of SoCal, I’d say try to relax. Relaxing will allow yourself to be the best version of you that you can be.

I used to get nervous playing in tournaments, or in big at-bats, but I developed a strategy to deal with the nerves that has served me well not only at the plate but in business as well.

Take a breath. DO NOT try to suppress the nerves. That’s key. Let the nervousness hit you and wash over you, even let the nerves consume you for a moment. Let yourself feel it. Then, step back and move through those feelings.

As you take a deep breath, watch yourself. Be a third party to your feelings. You are not your feelings. Watch your body experience the elevated heart rate and tensing of muscles. If you notice those things, I find that you will naturally relax.
