[TX] Company doesn’t think they need to pay for travel time if it’s overtime

Travelling to and from a worksite is not classified as travel time under the FLSA.

You are wrong. I resolved an FLSA lawsuit with my boss about this issue jist 1 month ago. In fact, there are even specific rules for OPs scenario. OP should be paid for all travel time which is longer than his normal daily commute.

This provision applies only if the travel is within the normal commuting area for the employer's business

Home to Work on a Special One Day Assignment in Another City: An employee who regularly works at a fixed location in one city is given a special one day assignment in another city and returns home the same day. The time spent in traveling to and returning from the other city is work time, except that the employer may deduct/not count that time the employee would normally spend commuting to the regular work site.

Just a heads up OP, I asked this same question here and was told the same thing you were. Then I talked to an actual employment lawyer. Don't trust everything you read from people on the Internet.
