Uber Drivers of Reddit, what is your best story as a driver? What is your worst/scariest story?

You meet all kinds of people, with a fair share of assholes.

I love meeting and talking to people, so if they're friendly and up for a chat it always makes the ride more pleasant and edutaining for both of us. Why would we not make the most of our short time together on this planet.

People offer me jobs occasionally, like sales jobs or other driving jobs, just because I obviously love talking to people and driving and I'm good at both.

My two worst customers have been the angriest human being I've ever encountered and a drunk racist asshole.

The angry guy was being picked up from the airport, which I do often, and I called and asked if I could pick him up from the super convenient place I pick up everyone from with no problem.

I do this for a living, I've picked up tons of people from the airport, and I know the layout and traffic situation of the airport.

Anyway, this absolutely infuriated him, so in our first interaction on the phone he agreed, but just started cursing, talking about how the traffic from the place I picked him up at would be horrendous. I picked him up in under a minute, and we were out of there in a little over a minute, so you'd think that would have shut him up.

But then he kept trying to give me condescending directions as though I didn't know how to drive or have a fucking GPS.

We get to his place, and he lives in probably the biggest house I have ever seen. I stayed polite, cool-headed, and happy the entire time notwithstanding his cursing and dickishness, so I felt like a better man.

But anyway, obviously there was no tip, and we gave each other low ratings. I'm pretty sure the reason he was so angry was that he was a terrible person, and I hope terrible things happen to him and I know where he lives.

The second worst person was a drunk racist asshole, who kept mentioning to me that he was from a family that had owned plantations, like he was gloating about it or something.

And then of course after I got to his place and stopped the ride, he realized he had lost his wallet, searched through the whole car, asked to search me, and then wasted my fucking time by calling a bunch of bars trying to find his wallet, which he never did, and I am glad he never did.

But anyway, most people are fine. I've eaten at a bunch of interesting restaurants that I've found, and a few people have invited me to come to the shows or bars I drop them at.

Sometimes I really hit it off with people and have hilarious conversations, and then I get to read the lovely feedback they give me in their reviews which is always nice.

Service industry people are my favorite, because they deal with people so they get it and are always pleasant to deal with.

Also, Uber says don't tip, but tip your Uber driver, because otherwise it does not pay well enough to account for the miles/wear/maintenance/insurance/risk on your car.
