Undeterred, U.S. cities ramp up removal of Confederate statues

Are you really that one track minded to believe that any confederate soldier or leader = racist? Many of the men were just going with what they’re state was doing, because back then your home state identity played a much bigger role than it does now. Some of these generals were great American commanders worthy of celebration for their leadership and ingenuity, and the goal of treating them as Americans rather than enemies of the Union was to help heal the nation after the war. I’ve always believe that the only “flag of heritage” someone needs is the Red, White, and Blue, because at the end of the day, the South were and are Americans too.

Why aren’t there calls for tearing down the Washington monument and burning $1 bills? George Washington was a slave owner, and the Washington monument was built by slaves. So were many of the other founding fathers. But we celebrate these men regardless for the great leadership skills and accomplishments they’ve had even though they have dark histories of their own.
