[Update] What happened with Jim.

One day, someone will see through Jim and it'll fall down.

At my last company (SP) I had repeated dealings with a client who was the most inept sack of shit "IT Director" you could imagine. He was constantly complaining about the E-LAN we provided between his main office and maybe a dozen remotes. Specifically, VoIP calls were choppy. Mind you, all they wanted to pay for was a single 5 Mbps pipe between sites and 50 Mbps DIA at the main office and they were in the medical field so they transferred a lot of x-rays and stuff like that between sites and to locations off-net.

So this guy would call every week or so and complain how his 3rd party VoIP would become unusable whenever someone was transferring files and that nobody could surf the web during file transfers too. And every week we kept explaining that a) this was a direct result of not implementing QoS of any kind and that b) he only has 5 Mbps of bandwidth to use for everyone at each site. Without fail he would always ignore what we were trying to tell him about QoS and launch into a tirade about how we were in breach of contract because we weren't giving a dedicated 5 Mbps to each and every user. He seriously thought that buying a 5 Mbps circuit meant that every device he hooked up was supposed to be able to push / pull 5 Mbps simultaneously. The worst part is that our dipshit sales people would bend over backwards to appease the guy no matter how ridiculous his demands. They issued credits left and right, they showered him with gifts like steak dinners, tickets to sporting events using our company's box suites, and so on. I won't lie, it was infuriating. Most people thought couldn't possibly be that stupid and he was just scamming for free stuff and I even questioned it myself until like his 40th complaint I accompanied his account rep to his main office and had a long conversation with him explaining precisely what he needed to do on his networks in order to clear up his problems (implement QoS, use VLANs, buy bandwidth that actually matches . While I was talking his eyes glasses over and I could tell he wasn't paying one bit of attention to what I was saying.
