You are not abandoning her. As a wife with mental health issues, my husband has sometimes had to be the person who told me that I was getting very depressed again and take me to see my doctor.

She is not a crazy person, she is just experiencing some sort of psychotic episode. It happens to many people. In her current state, she may be mad with you and may not understand that she needs treatment and that an involuntary psychiatric admission is the safest and most appropriate place for her to be. But as they assess her and presumably get her started on medication and treatment, she will understand that this is because you love her and want her to get better. I can’t even tell you how appreciative I am to see someone who is supportive and committed to their spouse during something as challenging as serious mental illness.
