USPS Sorting Machines Are Still Being Dismantled Despite DeJoy's Promise to Stop

I occasionally will talk to a friend from my hometown. He's not hard right but getting there. I tried to talk to him about human enrichment, not in wealth but knowledge. Trying to get him to see that we aren't supposed to just work and then die. We were both in the military when we were younger so I used the John Quincy Adams quote to try and say at the very least we did these things for our kids to be able to not just work and die.

Without blinking he said, "not a lot of demand for poets these days." I almost snapped back not a lot of demand for oilfield workers these days as he'd just been laid off in the last slump, but I though better of it. He just completely missed the point.
