You should have never ran a valet. You assume (which only is making an ass of you and no one else) that food industry people fuck with your food for not tipping? Clearly you have seen the movie waiting and have never actually worked in the food industry. Second tipping should not matter one bit on weather you take care of my hard earned automobile that cost a shit ton to fix if you fuck up while pulling dukes of hazard shit in people's cars because they didn't tip (how do you not know they are tipping after they get the car? Now I never want to tip valet knowing they might dog my car just because I waited to tip. Where did you learn how tipping works?)
Thirdly many many many hotels do not (I repeat, DO NOT) inform you that the hotel will have a 35 dollar valet charge. Clearly when you stay in a city you should expect it. But still for a broke college kid who gets deals on websites or from working in a hotel I can tell you I feel bad but don't tip when hotels sneak in those charges. If they let me know great. But if I show up and all the sudden am paying an extra 30 bucks that was suppose to get me lunch and a museum ticket on my trip than you can bet your ass I'm not giving it to the kid parking my car as I wished I could have just done that myself anyways. I am not at all against tipping. Every place that delivers me food comes quick because I tip so well. But 2 bucks is because I'm not going to give you 15 - 20% of a 35 - 50 dollar valet charge. You literally are driving my car up a ramp and parking it. It's a sucky job and I tip most times when I know I will be using valet. But your comment in all honesty makes me never want to tip again. I mean you flat out state that you dog cars because someone didn't tip before the car was parked. Let's take a look at the food industry since you like to make broad comparisons that in all actuality don't make sense. If you went to a restaurant you wouldn't tip the waitress before you saw her service and tried the food. So how the hell do you think people should tip you before. I don't know if when I bring my car back it will be ducked up.
Oh and by the I parked cars for a hospital valet for a couple weeks. It was depressing to watch people going in to see loved ones dying. I quit because people didn't tip well but I didn't be a jackass and dog their cars because people have their own shit they are going through. Sometimes money is tight and sometimes we don't think when a lot is on our minds. You can't be a jackass just because someone didn't tip. Like I said not everyone wanted to use valet. They were tricked into using it. But I do agree that valet work is rough and if you don't work a busy place the down time can be a drag. But at the end of the day I'm not entitled to a tip. So don't whine about it. Whine more at the company that refuses I pay you minimum wage because you make shitty tips.
