Venezuela only has $10 billion left in reserves

actually, it is captitalism that concentrates an enormous amount of power into the hands of a few elite. these elite, control governments via their contributions (bribes). just look what the US has become - a bunch of cronies changing the rules to give themselves even more power.

on the other hand socialism is a result of democracy. if everybody has proper representation, things would be more social. look at Europe in comparison to the US. the despot countries like Venezuela are classified as "flawed democracy" by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_Index .

the opposite of democracy is captialism or communism -- yes, those two things are very similar : the characteristic they share is power in the hands of a few, and everybody else is effectively a slave. that's why in the US, about half the population is living paycheck-to-paycheck, with one hospital visit away from bankruptcy. just watch what is coming with the student debt bubble - a swathe of youngsters with their debts acting like shakles for the rest of their lives.
