You wake up tomorrow and you are the new Benevolent Dictator of Seattle. What do you do differently? What unpopular decisions do you make and why will they improve the city?

  • Roll back tuition to 20 years ago level (about $3000 a year at UW)

  • Moratorium on all downtown development, halt all new permits until neighborhoods' construction has had a chance to catch up

  • Moratorium on out of town ownership. Require all owners of property to be Northwest companies, and no fake shell companies either.

  • Restore downtown bus service to 1992 levels.

  • Put Metro back in Seattle city management, breaking up King County Metro because KC Metro management has fucked Seattle since it's started.

  • Rip out the unused and ridiculously badly designed bike lane on Broadway Ave.

  • Halt construction on the downtown tunnel; look at building a replacement Viaduct.

  • Take that ridiculous park away from the Port, restore the waterfront trolley train

  • Rip out the Great Wheel as the eyesore that it is.

  • Outlaw Ride the Ducks

  • Smash the Chihuly Glass Ego Monument in Seattle Center - make that be the new KEXP location instead

  • Put Amazon on notice that they are no longer going to be building new anything. Encourage them to move to Bellevue where they should have gone all along.

  • Fine anyone using the term "NIMBY" as hate speech

  • Require UW accept all Washington State residents with appropriate GPA before filling up with out of state residents

  • Encourage more low and moderate income housing development - follow the Capitol Hill Housing (www.chhip.org) model.

  • Actively discourage for-profit real estate development downtown until Seattle can qualify again as "most livable city" status, like it did in the late 80s / early 90s

Only a few of these would ever make it out of committee but we need to do something unless we want to be Oligarch HQ And Developer Nirvana. Which most of you dipshits seem to want.
