I’m not hopeful this (U.K. domestic not US), the film is a by the by release reading reviews that I’ve seen, doesn’t delve into detail much of the more tragic part of her life or career either.

The marketing’s been a bit wish wash with a week before release or two, they decided to retitle the film adding ‘Whitney’ which indicates I’m guessing through market research people either didn’t understand who the Finn was about or the posters weren’t clear enough.

I think 90 mins rather than 2.5 hours for the film in length would have been more ideal, particularly for independents that will probably take this alongside Avatar which means it they’ve only a few screens not much for anything else.

Our presales aren’t strong at all for it, I think once Empire of Light comes out we’ll drop it if it doesn’t get more traction. Our audiences at the moment are booking up for Avatar post Christmas; as counter programming this should be good, but I don’t think the trailers have been that good.
