Mandela long walk to freedom
really is interesting because it seems like a competently made biopic. I wonder if the problem was that this is really an independent(?) foreign (french) film with only US distribution rights by a major studio and was buried by Weinstein Comp behind the Butler, Philimenia and August: Osage County? Feels like you really could have gotten a lot more than 8M for this biopic in the US.
The Losers
Is actually an outlier because it's a thoroughly mediocre movie. I like it, it's a fun movie with a sneaky good cast. It's a perfect test of star power. However, most of his films flops are in the pure "crap" section (literally what 538 labeled it).
Seriously, look at how many of his non-hits have low metascore and RT% (sub 30%).
If you can stomach mediocre data visualization skills, I did a cluster visualization of the different types of Idris Elba films.
