Weddings are overrated and a waste of money.

I'm pretty convinced these people also don't have friends. Somebody suggested a destination wedding to discourage people from coming. If you don't actually like your friends and family, I can see why weddings seem wasteful.

We're having our wedding this summer. Most of my guests have to travel from another country and it's likely going to be the only time in our lives they are all in one place. We are also expecting our first child in December, so this is kind of a last hurrah and a celebration before we enter a new phase in our lives (which we're super excited for). Additionally, covid restrictions are projected to be lifted the week before, after over a year of social distancing.

But hey, instead of a fantastic party to celebrate all that, we could see the number on our bank account go up.
