WEEKLY RECRUITING THREAD - Ask here about the recruiting process, trade availability, requirements to join, and other common questions about the Canadian Armed Forces.

No, that won't be offered as an option.

Your choices will depend on whether you're joining the Army, Navy, or Air Reserve.

Army Reserve, you have 2 options:

  • Part-time BMQ, spread over 10 non-consecutive weekends, Friday (evening) to Sunday (afternoon/evening). Attended at or near your home unit at some point between Sept through April.
  • Full-time BMQ, done over 5 continuous weeks during the summer months. Normally attended at a training centre somewhere in Canada (transportation is provided).

Navy Reserve, pretty sure there's just 1 option:

  • Part-time BMQ with a 3 week full-time component. You will complete e-learning, and attend part-time training at your unit; after which you will be sent to a facility at CFB Valcartier in Quebec (not CFLRS) to complete a 3 week full-time portion.

Air Reserve, also has only 1 option:

  • Full-time BMQ, 10 weeks. May be done with the Regular Force at CFLRS in QC, or possibly with the Air Reserve at a training centre elsewhere in Canada.

Army and Navy Reservists can on rare occasion attend a full-time Regular Force BMQ at CFLRS, or occasionally with the Air Reserve. This is fairly unusual though, as most reservists have no need to attend the full 10 week course. The 10 week course includes a lot of administration and other information that is either not relevant to the Reserve Force, or is already taken care of by the Reservist's home unit prior to them attending BMQ.
