Werner Herzog on Klaus Kinski

I think when you make films it is always a great strain. There are humiliations, too. I think, this kind of film-making can't be measured in cash, it is measured in sleepless nights, stress and humiliations, and you fight for it all, and no one comes along later and asks how you came through with it all... For these pasy 14 years, I have been doing things that are not within my grasp, by nature. i have learned that in order to make films, you have to be able to survive these problems, work them over and make them into something prpductive. All these humiliations... they are an essential part of film-making, and any one who cannot take that probably can't make films. And i have learned my lesson, in that respect. I'm no longer wet behind the ears.
