What are you glad someone talked you out of?

Reporting a club team for hazing.

Girl I knew got hazed by her club rugby team. Her experience wasn't even close to as bad as some other's I've witnessed/heard about, basically just a night spent being told to drink a lot of red bull and warm beer, then a quick dip in the brook that runs through campus, which is kinda gross, but not toxic. Girl in question was acting like she was traumatized (I think on some level she was exaggerating, but mainly I think she had just lived a relatively sheltered life up to that point and was unprepared for the drinking culture you find in American colleges), said she had taken videos of the ordeal and was going to go to the police. Although I believe hazing is stupid, dangerous, and unnecessary, I also believe that an entire rugby team's worth of girls doesn't deserve to be kicked out of school and have that kind of permanent blemish on their reputations just because of a couple of bad decisions they made in college. I encouraged her not to go to the police, but to hold onto the videos to use for blackmail in the future, if she was so inclined.

tl;dr Friend got lightly hazed by a club team at college, I, believing the prospective punishment not to fit the crime, convinced her to not to go to the police.
