What are good laptop brands these days?

Oh ok my apologies on the 'desktop' front, I misread that.

What's the difference in suggesting a tablet VS a laptop - aside from the iPad keyboard setup, is the surface NOT functionally a laptop when paired with the other half?

You said Emails, youtube and to be quality of some description. Would a tablet not tick those boxes if it acted as a laptop with a keyboard AND had the quality?

Just basic hardware, ideally a decent sized screen. Just for browsing, emails, YouTube etc.

people proceed to suggest powerful laptops

It's 2021 man, anything off the shelf is "powerful" when the requirements are youtube, emails and news/casual browsing.

You are fucking suggesting XP skins on windows 7 for fuck sakes.

.

you've been using Windows since win95 came out but this laptop is really powerful and has a great battery so yeah go get used to a different OS than you've been using for the last quarter fucking century

You're literally the one that suggested he is used to the older and easier windows style that he's used for a quarter fucking century and an XP skin on windows 7 (or 10) is probably the oldest mostly functional thing I can think of that compares and would suit his current and future requirements.

Yeah I don't know bud, I'd just an ex-lease Lenovo Thinkpad i7 15" 500gb SSD windows 10 and upgrade ram to 8gb if it's not already, setup auto-backup and if it breaks then restore on something similar. Or a macbook like the other guy suggested lmao.
