What are some awkward situations you've gotten into with civilians?

Had one I thought you guys might like over the weekend. Theirs a 15 year old boy that lives down the hall from me in the apartment building. We both have a golden retriever so we chat in the hall every now and then. Well he eventually mentions that he is trying to get into the reserve army coop and we end up chatting and I tell him that I was in for 3 years and I'm in the process of getting back in now.

He has a few questions and I try to clear them up for him and we move on. Well few hours later I get a knock on my door and he has some more questions, so I do my best to clarify things to the best of my knowledge and then things start taking a dive..

He tells me he plans to be a Navy Seal after watching American Sniper and Act of Valor. He then goes on to ask again what my trade was which I reply Artillery. He then goes on to say that he was looking at the website and he thinks he would like to do the coop program with the Artillery unit in the city because he doesn't want to die in the infantry and it seems like Artillery is still cool but safer. I try to explain to him that all trades are at risk on operation and that if he really wanted to be a Navy Seal I would imagine Infantry would be a good start for him to get a basic understanding. He then tells me that he is getting kicked out of school because he missed a lot of classes, I politely point out to him that he may want to get on top of his attendance in his new school because the Forces don't want people that are unreliable. His response to that is telling me that well its not that he can't attend his classes but that he has a hard time waking up in the mornings. I pointed out to him that he is going to have a lot of early mornings in the army if that's what he wants to do. His response to that is "Well I can get up if someone wakes me up"

Rest of the conversation was pretty much along those lines, I did my best to try to steer him in the right direction and to point out that he needs to get his act together at his new school if he wants a serious career in the military etc etc. It was just a very cringy excuse filled conversation.
