What is the creepiest experience that has ever happened to you or somebody else? [serious] [NSFW]

My great grandmother died in 1989 and left her home to my grandfather. My wife and I were newly marrried, in our early twenties and our oldest son was then 4 months old. We didn't have much money so my grandfather said we can live in the house for as long as we needed to. We were excited to have our own house and moved across the border to Virginia within a few weeks of his offer. The house was old and outdated, but had good bones and was huge. It was a farm in the 1800's and had tons of land and cool buildings and barns and garages throughout the property and it was always neat to go through the buildings and see what was hanging around from the past 100+ years. We would hear some weird thumping noises from time to time which we teased each other were ghosts, but knew that is was just some weird house noises that we were not used to. Sometimes they would be loud, like a big thump coming from upstairs and we would run upstairs to see what fell over or off a wall but never found anything. One time, and I will never forget this, it was a Saturday night and my wife, son, and I were sitting on the living room floor watching TV and talking and we heard a lot of thumping and banging and clatter coming from the kitchen. We were both startled and just stared at each other. My wife turned white and I could feel my adrenaline pumping. We were sure that there was either a large man or large animal in our kitchen. She grabbed the baby and I ran into the kitchen. I still get chills writing this, but all of my great grandmother's clothes and personal items that we had stored in the basement including photo albums, glassware, jewelry, sewing supplies, were strewn all over the kitchen. It looked like a bomb had literally gone off in the kitchen. There were clothes hanging from the cabinet doors and light fixture, pictures broken and scattered everywhere. My wife comes into the kitchen with the baby says "Jesus Christ" turns around and heads straight out the front door.

We stayed with my sister for a few days while we worked out a plan to get a new apartment, and she came back to the house with me to get some of our things and sure enough the kitchen was exactly how we left it that night with great grandmother's items strewn about everywhere. My older brother moved into the house about a year after we left and he never had any incidents in the 7+ years he lived there. I guess he really was her favorite.
