What does your homeschool experience look like?

In the morning after they have breakfast my kids (10 and 8, boys) practice their piano, watch a Spanish learning program, sign into Khan Academy to do math and the oldest also does computer programming, practice their handwriting with a page of creative writing and do some silent reading, all without me needing to prompt them or even be awake lol They do this at their computer in the homeschool room (our open formal dining room that has only ever been a playroom but now has desks and a futon plus bookshelves). That’s from about 9am to 10:30am.

Then lunch around 11:30am. Oldest makes something for them in the toaster oven (frozen fish or chicken fillets) or they make sandwiches.

Then oldest reads half a chapter of his literature and history books and types up a summary. Reads on couch or his room, types up at desk in homeschooling room. Youngest I read for him and he dictates his summary and I type it. On futon or couch, whatever is comfortable, with my phone using kindle app and Google drive.

They also have some science books to read through that aren’t about experiments (about animals, inventions). Also having oldest work through Julius Caesar, so we read and watch. Science is together, discussion, videos and experiments on Thursday. On the living room couch or kitchen. This week was energy (light, heat, electric, etc). Art (watercoloring, classical music appreciation, visual art appreciation and learning songs) is Friday, just out at table or couch. Nature study is Friday, outside discussion.
