What was drug use like in previous decades?

I went to HS in the mid-late 90s, and the drug culture then seemed to be at a transitioning point to where it is today.

Some differences: 1. You only had a choice between two hallucinogens: shrooms and LSD; and you knew the acid you were getting was really acid instead of the possible endless RCs these days. 2. Communication outside of school was much more difficult, as pagers and payphones were still far more common than cell phones. 3. You couldn't just walk down to your local gas station and buy a glass piece to smoke some tree; you had to find a head shop and pay a lot more for even a simple spoon bowl. 4. There sure as hell was no DNM back in the days of AOL, haha. 5. Although ecstasy caught on my way starting '97ish, you couldn't find straight "molly." Rolls were always in pill form (double/triple stacked, lol) and at that time they all seemed to have car names like Ferrari's, Mercedes Benz's, Mitsubishi's, etc. 4. The most common type of "kind bud" we'd get at the time was "beasters" or "BC bud", commonly called that because supposedly it came from British Columbia. But mostly in those days it was shwag city... tons of brick weed, $25/quarter.

These examples are just off the top of my head, and I really haven't been in the rec drug game for awhile. I'll come back and add to this.
