What is the first thing you think of when you think about the American South?

Also soul food might be the biggest damn lie. I can cook it right but if you go to a country restaurant expecting soul food, black or white, you better pay for good shit or expect cafeteria food.

I'm dead serious, I might be white but I know black & cajun cooking & it's rare to find good soul food without just going to a nice restaurant already & metering your expectations to get some really fatty roux/french based food or some folks expecting you to just eat grease.

Swear to god some folks in the south act like garlic powder, paprika, cumin is the missing ingredient sometimes... Good soul food is finding someone who knows what "putting your foot in it" means.
