What jobs attract the biggest assholes?

I also think it's a good thing. I would hate to move to a new country just to become a "career widow." I want him to focus on his job, adjust to the new city, and put everything he has into it. This will be easier without me in the picture while he adjust :)

I do know what desk he is on but because I don't know how many interns were hired onto his desk (and from what I understand it's on the smaller side) I'm sort of afraid to say just for anonymities sake. You never know who is reading your posts on reddit. If you wanna speak via PM then I'd be happy to share more info.

Yeah! He made lots of professional connections during his time there and also has a few friends in the organization so I'm hoping he won't be too lonely. Of course moving away from your friends, family, and SO (and working all day every day) can make you feel pretty alone. It's what I'm most worried about for him. I'm sure it will just cause him to work harder - good in the long run but detrimental for his mental and physical health in the mean time. Hopefully he still has time for pleasure and fun.

Thanks so much for that book suggestion! My field of study is so vastly different from investment banking that I sometimes struggle to even imagine what a typical day looks like at GS. My background is not in business so sometimes I take a bit longer to figure out what he's talking about when he's describing his work! I'll try to give it a read (in between my own academic readings, if I ever find the time).

Thanks you for talking with me about this. I appreciate it more than you know. It's in my nature to assume the best in everyone but investment bankers get such a bad rap. I just hope he is surrounded by good people and not the "lying", "manipulative", "psychopaths" that tend to be stereotyped/associated with that type of work. Eek.
