Rather disappointed in still seeing this kind of stuff as the top reply this day in age.

If you think that there is no "basis of actual value" in bitcoin then I suggest you look into it more. That is like saying the internet had no value in the early days.

Crypto is the only scarce thing in the world with no counterparty risk that you can transfer to anyone else in the world with no intermediary: that doesn't have some sort of value? ...and that is just one of many use cases. If you want to argue that the value is not as high as currently valued - or whether it fits with Boglehead philosophy, OK, but to say "no basis in value" is ignoring reality.
