What question do you hate to answer?

I'm getting tired of answering this question... "What kind of music are you into?"

When it comes to having a conversation with someone or with a group, there's always one of those people who think their music tastes are more "superior" & "sophisticated" than others who listens to different kinds of music.

And of course, there are elitists & snobs who say: 1) "There wouldn't be any artists & bands nowadays, if it weren't for the past"

It is true & I do get the point, I do understand how it all started & can see why people enjoy it.

But there's no need to feel offended, get easily emotional & call someone names when someone doesn't listen to music from the past.

Personally, I have no problem with people who are into music from the past. All I have to say, is that most of it isn't my cup of tea.

(See? You don't see my opinion including bigoted slurs & middle school insults).

I did gave most of it a listen & try before, in case of suggestions or so are about to be handed out to me.

2) "Music isn't as good as it used to be" / "Music died"

This isn't true.

There's so much more music out there to discover & listen to other than relying on & complaining about what's playing on the radio nowadays.

We're in 2015, we should be happy that we got all the technology & the internet to use to look around for new music we aren't familiar of or wanting something that sounds similar to your favorite bands & artists, it's all there, especially YouTube & Last.fm. Entertainment stores, pawn shops & vinyl stores, it still exists.

In case no one really noticed, there were bands & artists singing about relationships, breakups, love & sex in the past too.

Of course, not all bands & artists sing about those topics, don't get me wrong.

Not everyone liked & enjoyed what was popular & considered "hip & cool looking" in the past too.

(I'd like to apologize for saying "in the past too" twice).

Never be afraid to give different stuff a try, chances are you'll love it or not, that depends. If it isn't for you, then move on to something else.

Or at least, have knowledge to understand the differences & never automatically assume "it all sounds the same".

It may seem like a chore or hard work to do, but it isn't. It never hurts to open up a mind, it'll be worth it in the end if you do so. You don't have to though, I won't force you or anyone else to do so.

I understand that we all have different opinions & tastes, just I thought I'd like to hand out a suggestion, it's nothing serious & harmful.

3) "Don't call it metal, call it progressive, blackened, technical, melodic, slamming, brutal death, power, traditional heavy, whatever metal" / "It's not screamo, it's metalcore, post-hardcore, deathcore, grindcore, electronicore, whatever-core"

Stop. Just. Stop. I hate hearing this so much. I don't care what specific genre needs to be put under any band you listen to. As long as the band or a song sounds good, then I'll continue to listen to it regardless of whatever genre you mentioned.

I'm not "emo", "scene", "metalhead", "punk rocker", "rebel"... whatever the hell kind of labels are & I don't put myself under. Looks should never matter when it comes to whatever kind of music anyone (including me) listens to.. I'm just a normal human being who just enjoys music.

(End of list)

Although, this entire comment may sound like I'm a "hypocrite", I "have no idea what I'm talking about" ("going nowhere" for short), "don't know anything about music in general" to you or to those who were scrolling through the comments & came across to read this comment of mine.

The main point of this comment is that I'm explaining reasons why I hate having conversations about music with certain people: 1) They always wanna say something negative & look for an argument. 2) They don't understand the differences & assumes it's "all the same". 3) This... "Music nowadays isn't good as it used to be" / "I was born in the wrong generation" (Forgot to mention this, but I feel it doesn't fit well into the whole entire comment).

Of course, music can be fun to talk about.. but seriously.. can't we just get along & stop acting like we're better than others?

For example, if there's a song, band & artist that I don't like (or hate).. all I can say is this: "It isn't my cup of tea" & "It's not for me". That's it.
