What’s the worst thing someone tried to correct you about something you’re specialized at?

I have a degree in Geology, will be getting my Master in Chemistry in a year. I was doing some field work in New Zealand where an earth science/geology teacher (not a professor, he didn’t have a PhD) from some liberal arts college proceeded to argue with me about the melting temperature of quartz. He was trying to get all tough-guy in front of the students and said I was dumb and didn’t know what I was talking about because I claimed the melt point of quartz was in the 1700C range and he said it was in the 3000-4000 range or something. Then I explained that I actually melt quartz in my lab on a regular basis using a flame that burns at around 2000C. He thought I was somehow mistaken... then I explained that the melting point is effected by pressure, so its much lower at atmospheric pressure than something like a magma chamber - and that must be the number he’s referring to. I then looked it up, and was obviously right. He literally said nothing to me after that the entire day. Next day when we got in front of everyone he gave some speech to his people about how this was a geology class and not a chemistry class and there are lots of confusing things that seem to contradict each other but they should only focus on geology.
