[DISCUSSION] Beyonce - Lemonade

This is why I think Lemonade is one of the goat albums in terms of a cohesive story. It resounded on such a personal level and I felt like I knew exactly the internal struggle that was going on in Beyoncés mind because of my own relationship. I think that Lemonade is the story of how Beyoncé has to find herself after the fallout from Jayzs affair.

Pray you catch me is about B not trusting J even though she's forgiven and moved on since Js affair. She can't fully trust J again and is always on the lookout for signs that J is cheating still. In hold up. B is starting to really question why she's letting what happened happen to her. She doesn't know why j did what he did to her. She doesn't know what to do either bc she feels like she's being disrespected and thinks she deserves better but voicing her opinion will make people question her sanity. Don't hurt yourself details Beyoncés realization that ya shit is fucked up. She deserves better. B and j are connected and every time J does something to hurt B he is being hurt by what he does to her. Whether it's him not taking responsibility for his actions or trying to make things better it's just staining the relationship and everything it stood for. This is Bs angry song as she is furious with J and is finally standing up for herself. Sorry is Beyoncé fighting with herself. She knows she loves J and J is doing his best to make sure to make the situation better. At the same time B is heart broken and wants to leave J but she just can't make herself leave. She convinced herself that she really is over him but in all actuality she can't get over him and decides that leaving him is best for herself. In 6 inch Beyoncé is trying to find herself again. She is going out to the clubs looking for a good time. She's trying to take her mind off of J by going out and spending money and trying to attract men's attention. By doing this it distracts her from the real issues at hand. By grinding she's talking her own work in the studio. She put in work for her music as a way of release. But she can't get away bc J is sorry and wants B back and will do anything to get her back. Daddy lessons is a song that is influenced greatly by Beys roots. As someone who grew up in the south Bey was strongly influenced by bluegrass. Bey is reminiscent of the lessons that her dad taught her. He taught her to be a woman who doesn't take disrespect. She is going back to her childhood in a search for worth and a search for what she should do about the situation. She knows that her dad taught her that the disrespect that J shows her is exactly what her father warned her about. According to the lessons taught to her at a young age bey knows that she should take the situation with J very seriously since she deserves better according to the things her father told her. Love drought is Beyoncés fight with herself because she knows that J really does care about her and she cares about him. She can't make herself leave J because of the history they have. They were meant for each other and they used to be perfect for each other. She thinks she overreacted but at the same time she thinks everything she said is valid. She loves J and can't get over him though because of the love that they share and the history that they've been through together Sand castles is Beyoncés expression of feelings towards J. She is upset and shares that J is doing what he can. She is telling through the emotional tone of the song that even though she told herself that she wouldn't let herself be disrespected like she has been she can't make herself leave because she loves J too much. She shares too much with him to just leave and he wants to fix it and expresses his sorrow and therefore B takes his apology seriously and thinks that she can't leave. In Freedom Beyoncé is singing about how she really does want to do what is best for her and she considers it possible that leaving is what is best. She knows that she loves him but she still is running from her heart and away from J. She feels good about leaving and feels liberated by leaving the situation. Her internal struggle is real and she can't make up her mind what she wants but she leans towards leaving and doing what is right for her own moral All night is the story of the reconciliation of the relationship. J comes forward and apologizes realizing that everything that he did was wrong so he opens up. B appreciates this and just wants the situation to be solved. She loves J and cant get past that. Therefore after the talk and moment they share B and J share the night in ecstasy showing their love for each other making love to each other in a night of make up sex. She explains that love conquers all and that in the end it takes priority to all the fights they had. No one is perfect and she chooses to overlook the issues they had to reestablish the relationship they once had. Formation is Beyoncés expression of her new self. She expresses that she is confident about herself and will no longer accept any disrespect because she is indeed Queen B and deserves to be treated like the queen she is. She has found what her meaning is and expresses that she now has meaning in her life and knows that her place is important. Beyoncé recognizes her new self and knows that she is changed forever because of this dispute and will forever command the respect she deserves. Beyoncé has finally recaptured the woman she once was before the affair and is now just as confident as ever. You might not agree with me because in the end it's just my personal interpretation, but I feel very strongly about this so whether you agree or not this is what the album means to me TLDR: Beyoncé is back bitch
