What is the smallest amount of power you've ever seen someone abuse?

Was in the navy. There are often a disproportionate number of supervisors to workers. Usually it just goes 1 or 2 people are actually in charge of anything, and the rest are treated essentially as workers, especially if they don't have qualifications to really do anything supervisor-y.

So two guys were in this position - no qualifications, just rank. They weren't even part of my shop, they just shared a space. We switched off every night who took the trash out. I was at the time the only person in the shop, and you can't take out the trash until the end of the night - tools have to be checked to make sure you don't accidentally throw out something which causes a huge mess of a situation. And it was the other shop's night to take the trash out. I was done checking tools, let those two guys know their shop is good to take out the trash whenever they're ready.

So lazy guy #1 just says "well I'm not doing it." Odd, I just say "okay, but someone from your shop needs to." I continue working - again, only person on my shift, shutting down for the night took a good hour or two, I usually ended up staying late to finish. Two lazy guys hadn't done anything all night - they decided if no one lower ranked was around, they didn't have to do anything (the lower ranking people were out early for a test the following morning).

So both lazy guys decide then they were going to gang up on me to get me to take the trash out. I tell them no, I'm busy, they're literally watching youtube videos, they can do it. They try to say they don't have to because they're E-5. I remind them that doesn't matter, they can still do work - they're not supervisors. They start yelling at me. I hold firm, eventually one of them has to take out the trash after they make this huge deal of it.

Next day I came into work. All of the E-5 and above up through an E-7 (high ranking enlisted) need to talk to me. Lazy #1 and #2 said that I told them to fuck off, swore at them, blah blah blah, about taking out the trash. Though I wasn't nice about it, I didn't swear or anything at them (I swear all the time, except when I know people like that will try to make something of it). Turns out they tried to make this even bigger deal out of it. Because they didn't want to take out the trash. To reiterate, at the time they were watching youtube videos, and had been for almost the entire 10 hour shift.

So then I confront Lazy #1 and #2 on all this, they finally admit to the real supervisors maybbeeee I didn't say any of that and they just made it all up because they didn't want to do anything.

Long story short, I didn't get in trouble. Neither did they of course (they outranked me - so technically I was wrong, but what the hell were they gonna do, push the issue and have it come out they dicked around on youtube all night?), and I was given a stiff warning to just listen to Lazy #1 and #2 next time. I laughed at this suggestion, reminded everyone involved I got out in less than a year and gave not a single fuck (this time using that exact phrase).

I just still can't believe they went through all that because they really, really didn't want to take out the trash. Like damn dude, it's just the trash. I'm busy, it's a 10 minute round trip walk to the dumpster. I had shit to close out before the entire night shift could leave, you really wanted to delay every single person working for another 10 minutes because you can't be arsed to move a 1/10th of a mile?
