What is something most people need to hear but no one has the guts to tell people?

In my experience, this is true, but many of these places have one “sliding scale” that doesn’t take income into account. I’ve literally called places and asked “how much is therapy without insurance?” (My deductible is $1500, and I can’t afford $1500/yr out of pocket, so no). “$80/session” “ok, do you offer a sliding scale?” “$70/session”

Like, if you just tell me one set amount that you offer as a discount, the scale isn’t really “sliding” so much as “slightly moving in the right direction, I guess” it’s so annoying. I don’t know how they expect people to get help if the prices they charge are so prohibitive.
