What were your top 5 games you played during 2016?

  1. Stephen's Sausage Roll - One of the most brilliantly designed and fiendishly difficult puzzle games ever made. It looks simple, but you soon discover new mechanics to overcome seemingly impossible tasks.

  2. Dark Souls III - The definitive Dark Souls game. Previous games were brilliant but uneven, even the celebrated original Dark Souls. The final game in the trilogy focuses on what works well and has the best gameplay and most detailed world.

  3. No Man's Sky - For me, No Man's Sky is a lonely game all about the emotions of finding beauty in a vast and hostile universe. I've lost entire afternoons just hopping from planet to planet, stopping to gaze at a gorgeous sunset over a procedurally generated landscape.

  4. Inside - The most memorable four hours of gaming I had all year. You can tell that a lot of care was put into every frame of animation and every puzzle. It's a rare game where I wouldn't change one thing.

  5. The Witness - Doubtless one of the greatest video games ever made. The Witness is my new high water mark for quality game design. To properly explain what makes it so great would require pointing out specific things, but everyone should go into The Witness with as little knowledge of its mysteries as possible.
